The 2011 John Deere Classic will be hosted at the TPC Deere Run, which is located in Silvis, Illinois. The British Open is next week, which means many of the big name golfers won’t be competing this week in the John Deere Classic. This will leave the event wide open for anyone to scoop up a victory leading into the 2011 British Open, which will be the 3rd major of the year. You can watch the action live on the Golf Network and CBS this weekend, so make sure you tune in to see how your wagers are doing.

2011 John Deere Classic Predictions
- It’s hard not to like Steve Stricker coming into this weekend, but the odds are horrible. Getting +630 odds on any golfer to win a tournament isn’t good let alone Stricker. The reason the odds are so bad is because Stricker has crushed the course the past two years and won the John Deere Classic in 2009 and 2010. He’ll be looking to continue his winning ways this weekend, but I won’t be betting on Stricker personally due to the horrendous odds.
- Zach Johnson is sitting at +1800 right now at most online sportsbooks and I like him this weekend. He’s done well on the course in the past including a 2nd place finish in 2009. Johnson also grew up not far from the area and he’ll have a lot of local fans cheering him on the entire weekend, which will hopefully translate into Johnson playing his best in front of his local supporters.
- Jason Day is sitting at +1050 right now and many fans think he might win. He’s posted lots of great top 10 finishes in recent tournaments, but he hasn’t been able to win the tournaments. The playing field isn’t overly strong this weekend in the John Deere Classic, so I can see Day finishing in the top 10 again, but I don’t see him winning the tournament.
- The last golfer I want to take a look at is Louis Oosthuizen, as he’s got a great shot at winning the tournament at his odds are at +4200 right now. Louis won the British Open last year and I’m sure he’ll want to try and build confidence this week before playing in the British Open next week. Louis hasn’t been in the best form this year, but he did finish the US Open in 9th place against a tough field, which means he should finish in the top 5 this week.
Make sure you take a look at the head-to-head match-up bets at your favourite online sportsbook as well because you can often win more money on match-up bets. I’ll be betting on all of the Johnson, Stricker and Oosthuizen match-up bets that I can this weekend. I’m also going to be betting on Zach Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen this weekend to win the John Deere Classic and I like my chances considering the playing field that’ll be present in Illinois.
